Kristine Lilly, two-time FIFA World Champion and most capped international player of all time, as well as the only player in history to win the UEFA Champions League four times with three different clubs, Clarence Seedorf , will show their talents on South African soil for the very first time.
They will be joined by current Tottenham Hotspur striker and Moroccan national player Rosella Ayane, as well as Liverpool and Barcelona legend Luis Garcia, who was instrumental in Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League triumph in 2005.
One of the most unique football exhibitions to take place in South Africa became a reality today when Heineken unveiled the Heineken All-Invitational – a one-of-a-kind 5-a-side football game celebrating inclusivity and diversity in the beautiful game, both on and off the pitch.
The exhibition match, which will take place on May 14 at the Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg, will feature some of football’s greatest legends, local and international, female and male.
Marcel Swain, Marketing Manager for Premium Beer at Heineken South Africa, said: “We have been involved in football globally for decades through the UEFA Champions League and more recently , of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
“Through this involvement, we want to show South Africans that the game is for everyone by celebrating inclusivity and diversity in football. The Heineken All-INvitational is therefore not only designed to delight fans, but also to challenge stereotypes and change mindsets, so the 5-a-side showcase will host the stars of both men’s and women’s football on the same pitch.
The international players will join some of the biggest names in local football past and present, including Amanda Dlamini, Andile Dlamini, Benni McCarthy, Mpumi Nyandeni, Portia Modise, Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane, Ronwen Williams, Teko Modise and Zanele Nhlapho.
