“Simply put, more than ever, we need to keep the studio alive and running to the best of our abilities,” said Frogwares CEO Wael Amr. “Nobody in the team is supposed to work, only those who can and want to. Some team members have become full-time volunteers in humanitarian efforts across the country. Others joined the defense forces. overseas or nationwide and have made themselves available to work remotely. And we continue to pay all those people on the team.
Currently, developers who have fled Ukraine for neighboring countries or moved to safer areas are keeping Frogwares’ heads above water, according to Amr. He went on to say that Frogwares has no parent company, investors, or other outside funding to rely on, so it’s up to the company and its players to stay invested in its games to keep them going. afloat. As long as Frogwares can maintain what it’s done, Amr says he thinks they can avoid “starting from scratch.” For employees who left the company to participate in the resistance, Amr promises: “For those who fight or volunteer, each of their places in the team will be waiting for them at the end of the war.
As Frogwares continues to work amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, other game companies are stepping in to help. Ubisoft recently announced that it is offering alternative housing and financial support to its Ukraine-based staff, while Polish game developer CD Projekt Red revealed that it has donated one million Polish dollars to the Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH), approximately $235,000 at the time of writing. .
